Women in IT Awards 2016 Finalist Joanna Wake

Joanna Wake has become a finalist for the Business Role Model of The Year, at the largest and most prominent Women in technology awards in the UK! The Women In IT Awards recognise outstanding achievements of women in the IT industry, the awards are supported by trade associations, politicians and companies of all sizes and sectors.  Just 16% of the IT industry is made up of women and this is decreasing, the awards aim to identify much-needed role models for girls, Joanna definitely fits this criteria! The awards are a fantastic way to recognise women’s achievements in such a male dominated industry.

Joanna has gone above and beyond to build such a successful business, she has worked incredibly hard to be acknowledged for her outstanding achievements and at last she has been recognised at a national level! The Business Role Model Of The Year award recognises a female leader of a technology company who has demonstrated outstanding business leadership in the last 18 months. Judges will examine the progress/growth of the company, innovation it has brought to the market, and specific achievements and initiatives of the candidates.

Last years award winners included Fujitsu, Royal Mail, Tesco and Network Rail! The awards will take place this week on the evening of 28th January 2016, 600 of the UK’s top IT leaders will gather to celebrate the achievements of women in technology – in turn identifying much-needed new role models for the younger generation. The selected judges met at the beginning of January to decide the winners, which will be announced at the gala evening taking place at Grosvenor House!

All the North East support and press have been amazing so far and the North East is really getting behind our passionate leader in Tech!

Good luck Joanna!
